Weapons are equippable items that can be used for offensive and defensive purposes. They are the main type of item in shooter games such as the Insurgency series, and all classes have, by default, three weapon slots for primary, secondary, and melee weapons respectively; some equipment items are also similar to weapons and provide similar offensive and defensive capabilities. The vast majority of weapons in the Insurgency series are firearms that consume ammunition, usually (but not always) fed by magazines, and can be aimed for greater accuracy. Weapons can equip attachments to add certain abilities or improve their existing capabilities.
