Insurgency Wiki

The 🌐Uzi is an open-bolt, blowback-operated submachine gun primarily manufactured by Israeli Military Industries, although other companies such as FN Herstal and Norinco create both licensed and unlicensed clones of the weapon. The Uzi's name comes from its designer: Major Uziel Gal, who did not actually want the weapon to be named after him. It implements the use of stamped sheet metal, making the manufacturing of the weapon very cheap. It was also one of the first weapons to use a telescoping bolt design, allowing the Uzi to be much more compact, as the magazine well is housed in the grip of the weapon.

Insurgency: Sandstorm[]

The Uzi is a submachine gun featured in Insurgency: Sandstorm.

The Uzi is a basic submachine gun, acting as an option for those who want nothing more than a cheap and solid platform.

Most of its stats reflect its average nature, with a standard fire rate of 600 RPM firing a 9mm round at enemies. The velocity and penetration stats of the Uzi are what most expect from a gun like it, with velocity on the slower side of guns in Sandstorm and the inability to penetrate more than a sheet metal thickness worth of walls.

With such a slow fire rate comes little recoil. The Uzi kicks an equal amount both vertically and horizontally at values low enough to be controlled with minimal effort. This can be mitigated further to laser beam accuracy with the use of recoil grips and compensators, which are not hard to purchase with the mere price tag of two credits.

A slower fire rate also means that its ammunition economy is a lot easier to handle compared to faster firing PDWs such as the AS VAL and Honey Badger, however it is to note that a stock Uzi comes loaded with a 25 round magazine instead of aa 30 round magazine commonly found loaded in most other weapons. It's not to say that 25 rounds is bad (especially with such a controllable fire rate), but if needed, a 32-round extension is available for a single credit, and a 50 round drum mag is also relatively cheap as well.

Trivia[]

  • The Uzi is modeled with an aftermarket charging handle that extends to the side, for allowing optics to be easily mounted to the weapon.
    • In early versions of the game, however, it was modeled with the original charging handle, and the aftermarket handle only appeared when optics were added. This was removed, likely to reduce the amount of resources needed, and now the Uzi always has the side charging handle regardless of the optic used.
  • The markings of the Uzi read "UZI semi-auto MODEL B 9mm PARA-ISRAEL", indicating that the in-game model was based on the Uzi Model B, a semi-auto only civilian version of the Uzi.
