The 🌐QBZ-03 assault rifle, also known as the Type 03, is a Chinese gas-operated, selective-fire assault rifle designed and developed for the 5.8×42mm DBP87 round. The rifle has seen some issue within the People's Armed Police, People's Liberation Army Marine Corps, People's Liberation Army Air Force Paratroopers, and second line PLA ground units. An export variant of the QBZ-03 also exists, commonly known as the T03, which is chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO and feeds from STANAG magazines.
Insurgency: Sandstorm[]
The QBZ-03 is an assault rifle featured in Insurgency: Sandstorm. It was first revealed in a blog post detailing post-launch content.[1] The QBZ-03 was added in the June 17, 2019 update.[2]
The QBZ-03 is an assault rifle featured in Insurgency: Sandstorm. It is only available to the Riflemen class, meaning that Advisors, Breachers, and Gunners cannot use this weapon. In faction limited game modes, this weapon is also only available to the Insurgents. The QBZ functions very similarly to the popular M4A1 carbine.
The similarity to the Security's M4A1 is one of the QBZ-03's main selling points. Fed from the streamlined 5.56x45mm cartridge, the QBZ-03 is able to kill opponents quite easily, only requiring 1-2 bullets to kill, even through light vests. While heavy vests may protect its wearer for one more bullet, they will still die extremely quickly, as the 750 RPM of the QBZ-03 is actually very slightly faster than the M4A1's 741. The extremely high muzzle velocity of 850 m/s is slower compared to the Security counterpart, but not enough to be noticeable, meaning that landing precise long range shots are extremely easy. Recoil on the QBZ-03 is extremely minimal, with the gun mainly kicking vertically.
Because the QBZ-03 is so average, attachments only bolster what the gun already excels at. 1x-1.5x Optics are cheap, and should be run on the weapon, with the iron sights being quite chunky and blocking peripheral vision. 2x Optics offer a bit more versatility with the ability to fine-tune aim at medium-range, while longer range scopes, like the 4x-1x C79 or the cheap and custom 3x Type 03 Scope is great for long-range visibility. Grips are a matter of preference, whether you want to decrease the already minimal recoil with a Recoil Grip or improve its close quarters performance with an Aiming or Quick Draw grip. A Loading Grip may also be handy when using the Extended or Drum magazines. Also, because the QBZ-03 loads the standardized STANAG magazine, it is able to scavenge and load other STANAG magazines from other guns like the MK 18, both M16s, the L85A2, etc.
This versatility also comes at a 4 credit cost, continuing the trend of Insurgents gaining cheaper weapons and equipment. Though a little bit pricey, a lot of the aforementioned attachments are able to be equipped without completely breaking the bank like the Security's loadouts. Altogether, the QBZ-03 is a rifle that complements the Riflemen's role of a frontline soldier quite decently, as its stats are suitable for any situation, and is a great compromise for Insurgents.
