The Glock family of pistols is popular among civilian, military, and law enforcement agencies around the world due to their reliability and simplicity to operate. The PF940 is essentially a highly customised 🌐Glock 17 pistol manufactured by Glock Ges.m.b.H. with an aftermarket polymer frame and slide both manufactured by Polymer 80 firing a 9×19mm round.

Insurgency: Sandstorm[]

The PF940 is a pistol featured in Insurgency: Sandstorm. It was first revealed in a blog post detailing post-launch content.[1] It was added in the February 28, 2019 update.[2]

Along with the other "Wonder Nines" around its price point, the PF940 fires a smaller 9mm round than the .45 ACP handguns but makes up for it with its larger magazine and wide variety of attachments. It's 17 round magazine can be upgraded to a whopping 31 rounds, with its fast fire rate allowing it to be spammed quite effectively in close quarters.

With 9mm being on the smaller side of calibers, it is one of the only rounds that can be somewhat absorbed by light and heavy armor, but this only applies past ~50m. This, of course, is well out of the range that a handgun is effective, so this won't really be a problem when using the PF940. But even in its effective range, 9mm can occasionally struggle to take down targets with one shot, unless hitting a headshot, though its fast fire rate will ensure a quick follow-up shot.

Its price, however, is a major limiter to the PF940. A 3 credit sidearm is hard to justify, especially for faction-limited modes where managing supply points are crucial to loadout creation. Adding any attachments to the Glock will only spend more credits that could be used on grenades or a more kitted out primary weapon.

For cheaper alternatives, The L106A1 (or P226) performs very similarly to the PF940, but is a credit cheaper and only sacrifices magazine capacity.

Trivia[]

Insurgency: Sandstorm

  • The M005 was a pistol featured briefly in the alpha and beta versions of the game. It was removed from the release version of the game presumably due to concerns about licensing, and replaced with the PF940.
    • The weapon's old designation, M005, is a reference to the real-life USMC's designation of the Glock 19M, known as the "M007".[3]
