The Observer is a class featured in Insurgency: Sandstorm.
The Observer class has assault rifles and battle rifles as their primary weapon.
The Observer has no access to special equipment, but is a key component to calling in fire support. They be within 10 meters of a Commander for the latter to request fire support.
Note: The calls for fire support are only completed if the Observers complete their voice lines for transmission. Likewise, the Commander must finish their voice line to call support before the Observers begin their voice lines. Essentially, both Commanders and Observers must survive throughout the radio transmissions for Station/Outpost to acknowledge fire support is on the way. Additionally, wounds sustained or heavy suppression from explosives and bullets can disrupt the voice lines, causing Station/Outpost to ask for a repeat of the fire support request. Commanders and Observers will automatically continue to transmit if they are interrupted, although with more irritated voice lines.
