The Makarov, also known as the PM (Pistolet Makarova) or Makarov PM, is a handgun in the Insurgency series.
The 🌐Makarov pistol is a Soviet semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9×18mm, introduced in 1951 for Soviet Armed Forces and militsiya use. Despite its small size and caliber, the Makarov was the primary sidearm used by Soviet military and police, and still remains in production and in service among Soviet successor states and across the world, despite the development of numerous replacements in the 21st century.
Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat[]
The Makarov PM appears in Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat as a handgun for the Iraqi Insurgents. It is available for all classes.
As the only handgun available for the Insurgents, the Makarov PM is essentially the best a player can get, though it best serves as a backup weapon due to its small caliber.

Insurgency[]
The Makarov appears in Insurgency as a handgun for both Security and Insurgents. It costs 0 Supply Points and is available for all classes.
The Makarov has the highest fire-rate and the lowest recoil of all pistols in the game, making it a helpful backup weapon in an emergency. However, its low caliber and small magazine mean it can underperform when it counts, though Extended Magazines and different ammunition types can even out this drawback. The Insurgents' Specialist, Scout, Sapper, Sharpshooter, and Sniper classes can suppress the Makarov, turning it into a compact low-SP stealth weapon.

Insurgency: Sandstorm[]
The Makarov appears in Insurgency: Sandstorm as a handgun for the Insurgents. It costs 0 Supply Points and is available for all classes.
The Makarov is a lightweight compact pistol, stymied by its low caliber and small magazine. The lack of different ammunition types in Insurgency: Sandstorm means the drawbacks in this rendition of the Makarov are not easily fixed outside extending the magazine to a "normal" capacity. The Welrod also takes the Makarov's place as a cheap suppressed weapon, making the choice to suppress the Makarov fairly questionable outside not being able to afford suppressors for better handguns.
When serving strictly as a backup weapon, the Makarov can prove to be a very effective (and very cheap) option, especially with well-placed headshots, though users should try to avoid hitting armor, which handily absorbs the Makarov's weak 9×18mm rounds. All aspects considered though, if enough SP is available, players should not waste SP on trying to "improve" the Makarov with attachments and instead simply replace the Makarov with a better handgun such as the Browning HP, even if they do not plan on using it as often.
