The M9 is a handgun in the Insurgency series.
The 🌐Beretta M9 is the United States military designation for the 🌐Beretta 92, an Italian semi-automatic pistol, chambered in 9×19mm. The M9 was adopted by the United States military in 1985 to replace the dated M1911 as the standard-issue sidearm and remains in service, though in 2017 most branches selected the SIG Sauer M17 and M18 as its replacement.
Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat[]
The M9 Pistol appears in Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat as a handgun for the USMC. It is available for all classes.
The M9 Pistol is a reliable sidearm that, while somewhat weaker than the MEU SOC 1911, has a considerably larger magazine size.

Insurgency[]
The M9 appears in Insurgency as a handgun for Security. It costs 0 Supply Points and is available for all classes.
The M9 has the largest magazine capacity of all handguns in the game, but is otherwise fairly average, with a good rate of fire, good damage, and manageable recoil. Its large magazine size is its main draw, but its weight and lower damage somewhat negate this. It may be equipped with a Suppressor and a Flashlight or Laser Sight. Security's Specialist, Recon, Breacher, Designated Marksman, and Sniper classes can suppress the M9, turning it into a reliable stealth weapon.

Insurgency: Sandstorm[]
The M9 appears in Insurgency: Sandstorm as a handgun for the Insurgents. It costs 2 Supply Points and is available for all classes.
The M9 is a fairly average handgun with a reliable damage output, good rate of fire, and manageable recoil. Like its previous rendition, it is nothing special, but serves as a more reliable upgrade to the Browning HP and, for Insurgents, is intended to be their best "small-caliber" sidearm. Its sizeable magazine, which can be improved by Extended Magazines, serves as its main draw, allowing it to serve effectively as a "second primary" of sorts if well-equipped. However, its medium-range price and unremarkable caliber serves as its greatest limitation. It is otherwise a reliable but average handgun, and is a good choice for players who want (and can afford) a trusty sidearm.
With 9mm being on the smaller side of calibers, it is one of the only rounds that can be somewhat absorbed by light and heavy armor, but this only applies past ~50m. This, of course, is well out of the range that a handgun is effective, so this won't really be a problem. But even in its effective range, 9mm can occasionally struggle to take down targets with one shot, unless hitting a headshot, though its fast fire rate will ensure a quick follow-up shot.
Costing 2 Supply Points to equip, the M9 can be somewhat justified as a good sidearm for Insurgent Forces. It offers a solid performance for relatively cheap and works well as a last-ditch effort in certain niche situations, like when a primary weapon runs dry.
