Insurgency Wiki

In first-person shooter games, leaning is a game mechanic that allows characters near corners or other cover to lean around the cover. This reduces or eliminates exposure of the shooter's feet, legs, and torso, which the target may use to counterattack.

Insurgency includes a leaning system. The system is activated when the left or right lean button is pressed, defaulted Q and E, respectively.

A soldier can lean much more effectively right than they can left as all soldiers hold guns on the right. The leaning system also accounts for vertical cover (e.g. counter tops), and is automatically triggered when the AIM button is pressed while crouched, allowing the soldier to peek above cover.

Effect of Weight Points[]

A player's total weight points affects their leaning speed. A player with 640 or more weight points will lean 71% slower than than someone with 60 or fewer weight points.

  • Since everyone is right handed in the game you can shoot around corners when leaning right without being able to see where you hit. A "blind fire" of sorts.
