Gamemodes (alternatively game modes or just modes) are the configurations and rulesets that determine how a match will be played, what the objectives are, and how victory is meant to be achieved.
In the Insurgency series, gamemodes are divided into Versus, Cooperative, and Competitive modes. Versus and Competitive modes pit players against each other to complete objectives, while Cooperative modes have players cooperate against enemy bots. Insurgency: Sandstorm introduced Limited Time Game Modes, which are temporary modified Versus and Cooperative modes with special rulesets, such as limited weapon selections or unique game mechanics.
