For a Security forces variant, see Galil SAR.

The 🌐Galil is a family of Israeli made automatic rifles designed by Yisrael Galil and Yaacov Lior in the late 1960s, and produced by Israel Military Industries. Its design is similar to that of the Kalashnikov family of rifles, with a few notable adjustments.

Insurgency: Sandstorm[]

The Galil is an assault rifle featured in Insurgency: Sandstorm.[1]

The Galil is a 1 credit rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm given to Insurgent Gunners. It, along with the Galil SAR, both function as the cheapest that Security Forces will have to pay to get an effective automatic weapon. Its long range, easy to control recoil, and cheap price make the Galil a prime option for a very well-rounded rifle at any range. It performs identically to the Security's Galil SAR, as they're basically the same platform.

Chambering the standard 5.56 round, the Galil is able to kill opponents quite easily, only requiring 1-2 bullets to kill, even through protective vests. The Galil fires at a very controllable 632 RPM, making it fast enough to deal with targets efficiently as well as maintaining recoil and its magazine capacity. The Galil's rounds also fly through the air at insane speeds, besting even some of the Sniper rifles in terms of velocity. With a high velocity, these rounds also penetrate most walls with relative ease. Both of these stats combined mean that the Galil can be fielded as a pseudo-DMR to an extent.

Because the Galil is so cheap, users are able to afford quite a lot of attachments without sacrificing most of their other gear. Powerful magnification optics can be equipped to increase precision, especially since the iron sights are cluttered and comparable to the M249's iron sights. Grips are a matter of preference, whether you want to decrease the already minimal recoil with a Recoil Grip or improve the Galil's close quarters performance with an Aiming or Quick Draw grip. A Loading Grip may also be handy when using the large drum magazines.

It's also good to note that a stock Galil comes pre-equipped with a 35-round magazine, with a 50 round drum as the only upgrade.

In short, the Galil's ease of use also makes it a prime choice for an equipment loadout, allowing for more credits to be used on a variety of other things. Grenades, carriers, armor, or even secondaries and gas masks can be used on modes such as Domination or FFA, where there aren't faction based weapon selection.
