A 🌐Flechette is a pointed steel projectile with a finned rear to aid in flight stabilization. Flechettes have some use in firearms, particularly in shotguns, where multiple darts would be loaded into a 12 gauge shotgun cartridge. When compared to conventional buckshot, flechettes are much more aerodynamic and have a tighter grouping and flatter trajectory. The use of flechettes as antipersonnel ammunition is controversial and is regarded by some to be a violation of human rights.
