The MP5KA4 (German: Maschinenpistole 5 Kurz) is a variant of the German MP5 submachine gun developed in the 1980s, and both weapons are produced by Heckler & Koch. The MP5KA4 fires the same 9×19 Parabellum round used in the standard MP5 from either 15-round standard or 30-round extended magazines.

Insurgency[]

The MP5K is a weapon featured in Insurgency and is available to the Security Forces faction.

The high rate of fire, low recoil, open iron sights, and short length of the MP5K makes it highly effective for short range engagements and free-aim firing. However, the MP5K is also limited by the low damage, short damage drop-off distance, and low penetration power of the 9mm round.

Trivia[]

  • The model is based off of the MP5KA4, hinted by its four-position trigger group.[1]
  • The first person model and world model of the MP5K are oversized compared to its real life size and the size of other weapons.
  • In reality, it would be extremely awkward to perform a tactical reload on older MP5 models such as the A1 or A2, due to the way the bolt was designed. The bolt rides directly on top of the feed lips of the magazine, blocking a full magazine's entry into the magazine well. This prevents a fully loaded magazine from properly being seated if the bolt is in battery. This is why it is recommended that the bolt is to be locked back during tactical reloads, or a partially full magazine to be inserted. Either way, a 30+1 capacity would be extremely difficult to achieve in real life. However, achieving x+1, where x < 30, is absolutely possible. Furthermore, newer models of the MP5, such as the MP5A5, seem to have resolved this feeding issue so x+1 when x=30 is now possible.

Insurgency: Sandstorm[]

The MP5K appears in Insurgency: Sandstorm, but only accessible via console commands. It is fully functional, however, the weapon does not have any firing or handling sounds. It may have been a placeholder weapon ported in from the previous game.
