The QBZ-97 is an assault rifle with a modest rate of fire. Due to its tall carry handle, equipping certain optics such as the 1x MARS and 1.5x PK-AS can make the weapon have a up a lot of space on the screen. The QBZ-97 can also use STANAG magazines salvaged from weapons such as the M4A1, M16, and L85A2.
