Damage is a game mechanic in the Insurgency series. It is the number of hit points taken away from a character or entity per action. Effective damage is the damage inflicted after all variables and damage multipliers have been applied.

Calculating Damage[]

  • Weapon damage given range
  • Hit group DM given hit group and weapon
  • Ammo DM given ammo type, hit group, and weapon
  • Armor DM given armor type and hit group

Damage Model Equation[]

  • Effective Damage = Weapon Damage Range * Product of Damage Multipliers
    • Damage Multiplier = Hit group DM * Ammo DM * Armor DM

Example[]

Shooting someone in the chest with a Makarov pistol at range of 1200 inches using HP Ammo. The target was wearing light armor.

Variables[]

  • Weapon damage 1200 ≈ 56
  • Hit group DM Chest, Makarov = 1.80
  • Ammo DM HP ammo, Chest, Makarov = 0.75
  • Armor DM Light armor, Chest = 0.4

Equation[]

  • Effective Damage = Weapon Damage Range * Product of Damage Multipliers
  • Effective Damage = 56 * (1.80 * 0.75 * 0.4)
  • Effective Damage ≈ 30

Each bullet will cause around 30 damage. It will take four bullets to kill this target.

Penetration values have not been applied to this equation. Shooting through walls will result in different effective damages than the given equation.
