"Checkpoint" is a PvE gamemode featured in both Insurgency and Insurgency: Sandstorm. It is the PvE equivalent of Push.

Objectives[]

In Checkpoint, a team of Security players spawns on one side of the map, and is required to capture objectives or destroy weapon caches in order to progress through. Sometimes, when an objective area is captured , the team will have to hold their ground against an Insurgent counterattack. During this counterattack, the Insurgents will sometimes call in fire support, such as Explosive artillery, Chemical Mortars, or even IED Drones. Also, suicide bombers will spawn during counterattacks but never on new objectives.

Strategies[]

Offence[]

Teamwork! - When breaching an objective, make sure to work together with your squad. This helps in ensuring the team stays safe and together as a unit. Just like the tip says: "Nobody likes a lone wolf."

Defense[]

Holding Angles - When watching an angle, you provide cover to teammates around you, while also denying the Insurgent AI entry. Sometimes, simply watching an entryway such as a door can be the difference between a capture or a defeat.

Fire is your friend. - Fire, such as Incendiary Grenades or Molotovs, can block entrances for you by burning anyone who steps on it. Just remember that friendlies can also be harmed by it, too.

General Tips[]

Never underestimate the AI. - The AI in Sandstorm can be quite a dangerous foe. They can be equipped with everything from simple Makarov pistols to MG3 machine guns, and much more. These weapons, just like your own, have the ability to oneshot you, so be careful around every corner.
