Insurgency Wiki

The 🌐Browning Hi-Power is a single-action, semi-automatic handgun designed by John Browning. Although Browning passed away before the pistol was completed, armament company FN Herstal finished the design in 1935. At the time, the Hi-Power's most defining feature was its capacity of 13 rounds in 9×19mm, which was one of the largest magazine capacities for a handgun, almost double that of firearms such as the M1911.

The Browning HP is a pistol featured in Insurgency: Sandstorm.

The Browning HP is a fairly average handgun with a reliable damage output, good rate of fire, and manageable recoil. Along with the other "Wonder Nines" around its price point, it is nothing special, but serves as the Insurgent equivalent to the Tariq and, for Insurgent Forces, is intended to be a cost efficient "small caliber" sidearm. Its sizeable magazine, which can be improved by Extended Magazines, serves as its main draw, allowing it to serve effectively as a "second primary" of sorts if well-equipped. However, its medium-range price and unremarkable caliber serves as its greatest limitation. It is otherwise a reliable but average handgun, and is a good choice for players who want (and can afford) a trusty sidearm.

With 9mm being on the smaller side of calibers, it is one of the only rounds that can be somewhat absorbed by light and heavy armor, but this only applies past ~50m. This, of course, is well out of the range that a handgun is effective, so this won't really be a problem when using the Browning HP. But even in its effective range, 9mm can occasionally struggle to take down targets with one shot, unless hitting a headshot, though its fast fire rate will ensure a quick follow-up shot.

Costing 1 Supply Point to equip, the Browning HP can be somewhat justified as a good sidearm for Insurgent Forces, even in faction limited modes. It offers a solid performance for relatively cheap and works well as a last-ditch effort in certain niche situations, like when a primary weapon runs dry.
